2019[]
After recording and releasing Lavish, Roan decided to take a different direction with her music. She recorded the song "Pink Pony Club" in early 2019, with Dan Nigro. The song was released in 2019, alongside a music video, which Roan described as a “hard left turn from Lavish”.
2020[]
After the release of "Pink Pony Club", Roan recorded multiple songs, which would form her second studio album The Subway. Somewhere later that year, Roan decided that she would release a “transition piece” from Lavish to what would become the album.
She chose to release "Good Luck Babe" and the first demo of "Read & Makeout" - which was released due to Roan not having time to finish it then.
She announced the project on January 16, 2020, via her Instagram. Pre-orders for the CD were available later that day, and Good Luck Babe!/Read & Makeout was released on May 1, 2020.
